Grounding and Excess of Energy

What is grounding and why is it needed? Very often after certain energy related practices people tap into a very powerful energy flow, which creates an energy-informational “overflow” and “shoots them into space”. It becomes quite difficult to keep concentration and it may feel as mind is flying up in the clouds all the time. Empathy may also increase greatly – vividly sensing every person who is around and their energy fields (this kind of effect may actually be experienced more and more today even without any kind of energy practices). In those cases, grounding becomes vital. Otherwise, it would be very hard to live in society as well as your own home. It all comes to your choice of the grounding technique you would like to use or combine several offered methods depending on what is available to you.

Grounding. Most simple methods:
Walking barefoot on the ground. Standing barefoot on the beach sand or grass might be enough at times.
Direct contact with nature, water, soil, trees: walk in a park, gardening, swimming in a lake, river or sea (for some people simply putting your feet into a bucket of water or holding them under the stream of water could work).

It is a concentrated grounding in its pure form. Yet, you do have to remember that your pets often take away you “negative energy”, that is why you should treat them with great respect.
Music: it is important to pick the one that can actually ground you, and not the one that would take you even higher.
Creativity: painting, singing, clay work, pottery, dancing (whirling).
Hold hands or hug a person close to you
Offer your help (much better if it is a type of physical work).
Grounding. Working with your Body.
It is important to work with the body, by constantly returning your attention to it:
for men (and people with low sensibility): hard physical labor, “pump the iron” (fitness), cutting wood, hard work in the garden, etc.
for women (and people with high sensitivity): gymnastics, dancing, yoga, Qigong, jumping, it could be best just to allow your physical body to move with the flow they way it want to without any kind of relations to methods or systematic order.
Breathing exercise: sit down or lie down, become aware of your center (solar plexus or heart), concentrate your attention on it, make an intention to pull yourself together, breath calmly, deeply, (you can experiment with different rhythms and deepness of your breathing; you can also see a certain guideline for yourself – “after 20 minutes of breathing in and breathing out, return to your normal state”).
Call yourself by name, appeal to yourself and calm yourself down, you can do it out loud (your name is the center of your personality. Speaking your own name out loud returns attention to your own personality).
Starting “pumping” your left (logical) brain, for example start solving mathematical problems or work only with the right side of your body, while leaving your left arm and leg without work (in most cases human brain works “diagonally”, left hemisphere is connected with your right side and vice versa).
Some people prefer to have a smoke, a drink, eat some meat or watch TV, because their body is used to ground itself this way and doesn’t know any better, or perhaps not sensitive enough. Sugar also has a grounding effect. Yet, everyone still decides regarding their own method of grounding.
There are cases when after energy practices/exercises people just don’t want to eat and even forget about drinking and eating. This can also have its negative effects all the way to fainting of hunger or serious disorientation/dizziness. Using this analogy, in order to increase sensitivity of your body and “unloading” for the energy practices you can stop eating for some time or only eat light foods.[/list]

Grounding for Advanced Practitioners:
Stretch crystal hooks from your chakras and anchor them to the crystal grid of the planet.
Stretch roots into the earth from your feet and tailbone, however this method is not safe for everyone, because the energy stream/channel that is moving upward can actually bring a lot of “mud from the bottom” to the surface if proper energy clearing/protection have not been conducted (often feet accumulate a lot of negative energy).
Tune upward and downward energy streams, balancing them with your intention by “averaging” them on a certain vibrational level that is needed to achieve current goals.
It is important to understand that grounding is about establishing connection with the material world and bringing to balance the worlds of you Spirit. A human is living in both worlds and it vital to balance connection between them.

Grounding may not have its desired effect for people who are:
Disregard and neglect their body (it most likely will have a reverse effect – very low vibrations and sensitivity, yet it all really depends on the case).
Constantly lose themselves in the clouds and don’t allow their plans, projects and basic dreams to manifest in the physical world
Do not conduct any physical practices and concentrate only on the energy related ones
Use psychotropic/psychoactive substances of any kind on regular basis
Take various medical drug on regular basis (it most likely will have a reverse effect – very low vibrations and sensitivity, yet it all really depends on the case)
Perceive themselves as the warrior of light, saviors of the worlds, ascetics, and deny or dismiss material reality – Mother (deny dark side/shadow related to matter. These people often have problems with their material/financial wellbeing and health, as the Mother Earth gives us power and energy for the physical body to exist and grow in the material world).
By the way, please take into account, that relationships with parents are direct indicators to how things are in connection with the material world.
Lack of grounding may also cause certain distortion in the channel of abundance.
