How Runes Work and Why They Don’t For Some People

Runes – they are not just an alphabet or a magic remedy from all the sickness and problems. They are not living beings with own consciousness and not a magic wand that you can change reality by simply waving it. It is all much simpler and more complicated at the same time.

Runes – they are energies, each rune has it’s own qualities and the goal of a mage (practitioner) is to provide each rune with a program for action and direct their energy where it is needed.
The energy of each rune is unique and has a certain vibration and frequency. Runes influence a subject/object by influencing its energy with their own vibrations. If we give them a program to change a certain situation, then runes influence the energy of all the objects/subjects involved or effecting the situation.

In order to direct the energy of runes, as a rule, certain activation/invocation texts (spells) are used. Spells help the practicing mage to focus their attention on the work and frankly speaking are needed more for the practitioner then for the runes themselves. Not many people know and understand that you can actually use runes without invocation text. The mage gives the program to the runes through own energy and power (force), and not through simply “memorized” words as many may think.

Most people think that rune magick work is very simple: you draw a symbol, order it to fetch you what you want (e.g. money, prestigious job, a beautiful wife or prince on a white horse = Mercedes). The purpose of runes is to just quickly obey and rush to deliver everything you want… Gullible, isn’t it? It is also kind of sad that many people may think that. The main reason behind it is most likely the fact that most modern people have a false and inadequate attitude towards runes , and magic(k) as whole.

In order to work with runes you need to know how to work with their energies. Thus, initially, rune work is energy work.

Here we are getting closer to why runes don’t work for everyone. The answer is actually quite simple: not everyone knows how to work with energies and how to control/direct them. Just making a wish and practicing visualization is not enough to change your reality.

In order to reach success in working with runes you need several vital qualities/skills:
Knowledge and understanding of each rune’s quality. It is also essential to be able to sense their energy and vibrations. There are various practices for that starting from meditation/visualization techniques and all the way to living through the energy of runes.
Absence of psychological and energy blocks.
Energy blocks are in the way of a person’s ability to sense and differentiate energies, not to mention the ability to direct the energy. The more blocks a person has, the more difficult it is for him or her to sense/perceive/identify energies. Energy blocks also have their negative effect on the person’s abilities of clairvoyance and clairaudience. That is why every newbie in magic(k), as a rule, starts inner work to identify and eliminate existing blocks that are in the way of moving forward. Energy blocks are in the way not only in rune work, but in any type of magic(k) practice or tradition.
In order to start working with runes a certain energy cleanness is also very important: absence of negative energies, curses, hexes, energy leakages, etc. Clear healthy energy state and optimistic attitude play a vital role. Thus, before you start practicing rune magic(k), it is a good idea to get yourself, your body, mind and spirit in balance.
Absence of outside blocks
Outside blocks imply obstruction to do magic(k) work coming from higher forces, from enemies and opponents, as well as certain “magic(k) seals” that are prohibiting practice of magic(k) that are usually set by a religious egregore a person belongs to. For example, during Christian baptism almost all chakras (energy centers) are being sealed, including Ajna (Third Eye) and Sahasrara (Crown of the head). These chakras are essential for normal energy flow in your body and for the ability to see and sense higher levels of consciousness.

Blocks from Higher Forces can also exist as a type of punishment for person’s misconduct or to limit person’s power if the person is moving in the wrong direction.

That is why if you have removed all inner energy and psychological blocks, yet there is still very slow improvement or it doesn’t happen at all, then perhaps, there are outside blocks that need to be removed in order to have a breakthrough forward.
Level of your energy state/flow.
Every person is unique. Some people have weak energy flow others may have a very strong and powerful energy flow from birth.

A person with weak energy flow will not be able to control rune energy well enough and do other related magic(k) practices. Imagine a person who is trying to lift a 300 kg barbell without any training. That is pretty much how it looks when a person is making dull attempts to do magic(k) without being ready for such work psychologically or on the energy level.

By conducting certain meditative and other energy related practices, a person is able to increase own energy flow/mass, just like a person can develop and increase muscle mass through doing sports and training. However, you do have to invest your time and energy so that you can reach definite results in magic(k) practices.
Presence of potential and abilities.
Presence of magic(k) abilities/talents plays an important role! Your potential depends on the accumulated experience from your previous embodiments, the power of your Ancestry and what kind of power was given to you by your Ancestry in this embodiment, etc.

Why not all witches, mages and wizards can use runes?

Runes do not have attachments to any belief system or religious egregore. Runes are energies and they work independently without any ties to certain Gods/Deities.

Of course, in Northern tradition it is considered that Odin gave runes to people and enlightened us with this magical and powerful instrument. Yet, as practice shows, in order to conduct rune magic(k) you don’t have to believe in Northern Gods and work with them. You can work with runes and activate them with your own power(force) and energy.

Many mages and witches, that work in different traditions and worship different Gods can use the power and energy of runes. It all depending on how high their level of energy flow, accumulated or birth given magic(k) potential is. Thus, if runes do not work for a practitioner that is following a certain tradition, it just means that the given mage does not have enough of OWN POWER.

Mages and witches of many traditions invoke certain forces and conduct rituals/enchantments/spells with the support from those forces. In order to work with runes you will also need your own power as well as the skills/talents of working energy, and not just ability to invoke Gods/Deities.
